Fashion Fair Review: Eyeshadow & Lipstick

I love new make-up, so when I received a few goodies from Fashion Fair, I had to try them out.

In my little parcel I got two beautiful eyeshadows and a lipstick, all in some of my favourite shades!

The packaging is really nice, I know this may sound like a weird thing to point out but I think it's quite important, first impressions and all that.

First up is the eyeshadow in 'Suede'*.

It's got a lovely shimmer to it and is the kind of eyeshadow I wear for a night out, very impressed with this!

Above: A lighter shade called 'Nude'* - Again, slightly shimmery which is what I like! This is a great shade for me, perfect for when I do smokey eyes!

I generally don't wear dark lipsticks but this shade is so unusual, I'm definitely going to brave it. This lipstick is called 'Confidence'*, you definitely need it to wear it!

I'm genuinely happy with the products I received and will definitely be wearing them for nights on the town! The colours suit my fair skin pretty well which is always a bonus. Fashion Fair is a make-up company who specialises in make-up which complements people with darker complexions but they look just as good on fair skin too!

Check out their website here.

What do you think about these products? Do you dare to try darker shades?

Summer Neon Look Book with Fat Face

SUMMER HAS ARRIVED - The sun has got his hat on, hip hip hip hooray!

With the music festival season in full swing and the glowing tans appearing on our news feeds, you can understand why everyone is loving the summer vibes as of late.

It's not all about festivals and beer gardens though, this summer is sporting some seriously cool trends in the fashion world, including a splash of neon in your wardrobe. Fat Face have got the neon look down to a T and I've had the pleasure of collaborating with them on the launch of their new range, 'South Coast Brights'.

(Enamelled Heart Studs £6, Contrast Arm Cats Eye Sunglasses £25, Harwell Contrast Moccasins £45, Jacquard Three Quarter T-shirt £30, Modern Chino Crops £38, Large Shaped Buckled Tote Bag £80)

Nailing the summer neon look can seem like a difficult task, but with the right clothes and accessories, you can look summery in no time. Neon is big this summer, but if you're not a huge fan of bright colours, just a touch of neon will do the trick. Maybe the Harwell Moccasins or Chino Crops from Fat Face might take your fancy?

Take a peek at my look book below to get some inspiration for this summers neon style.

(Pineapple Punch Flippy Shorts* £28 )

I instantly fell in love with these shorts, they are extremely comfortable and look great with sandals or boots. Shame about the lack of a tan though! These are part of the 'Miami Cool' range from Fat Face.

(Jacket: H&M, Top: H&M, Boots: H&M, Shorts: Fat Face)

I love the festival look even if I'm not attending one - it's a great style for a casual night out in town.

(Jacquard Three Quarter T-shirt* £30)

I chose this top as I liked the aztec style print, it's nice and spacious, perfect for a cool summers day.

(Jeans: New look,  Top: Fat Face, Sandals: F&F, Necklace: Daisystreet.co.uk, Sunglasses: Primark)

The South Coast Brights collection from Fat Face has got a bit of everything you need for this summers latest trend. Don't miss out!

KayceeCreates Guest Blog: All Things Fabric

I’m back for the second time tonight guest blogging for Courtypeach, I’m frantically searching my brain for my next sentence, for this post wasn’t what I had intended to write this evening…
I know what you’re thinking, I’m going mad and why haven’t I got a plan? & you’d be right to think those things, of course, but the truth is I did have a plan, I carefully crafted every line of what I had every intention of posting this evening, neatly written up in my notebook devoted solely to blogging & without a second thought tonight, I canned the whole idea, that’s it gone.

We’ve (my boyfriend & I) have just gotten home- literally minutes ago, from dinner in one of our favourite restaurants.  We have been discussing my second guest post over the washing up, Stephen has asked me on a few occasions over the last two days what I have planned & I’ve kept it quite because I like my writing to be a surprise like a little gift to him & my readers.

Anyway he just popped up with, “Why don’t you blog about your fabric!” This fabric being the beautiful off cuts I brought home from work today! For those of you who don’t know (& that I will probably the majority of you) I work for a cookware & textile company & one of the perks is we get to snap up these off-cuts of fabric from aprons, oven gloves & anything else we produce in house basically.

That’s it, I thought, that’s what I want to write about, way more exciting than rambling on about some bunting I’ve produced (don’t get me wrong the bunting is lovely) but I knew I wanted something exciting, something more.  & then I check my messages & Courtypeach has asked me to send over my write up tonight/early morning tomorrow! which is fine, I like pressure, pressure makes you work harder but I’d chucked my old idea & all my plans & I now have this shiny new one in my  head which I love so much more, but that’s just it its only in my head & not where it needs to be in black & white & so as I type this now, my hands are struggling to keep up with my brain as I know I only have maybe half an hour (or there about) to prepare this before this needs to go.

So I was given these pieces of fabric this afternoon, which I must admit I jumped at the chance of taking home because A) it’s covered in polka dots & B) you can never have too much fabric in your craft room!  As they now lay on my dining room table right next to me I see them out of the corner of my eye & it’s only now crossing my mind that I have absolutely no idea what to do with it! Such lovely fabric which I would hate to see end up in a drawer only for me to discover in a few months’ time & realise that I have wasted all the weeks before not doing something with it!

With that being said I’m calling out to you, the person reading this now, what would you do with it? Or if you’re thinking “I’ve never thought about getting creative with fabrics at all” then even better, what would you want to see me make out of it? I want to get a project started with it as soon as possible so your help & suggestions would be wonderful!  FYI the yellow piece is quite short & narrow & the blue piece is about a metre long.

This is a project that I’m going to document both on my blog & through my Twitter & Instagram pages as well, so you can keep up with the progress & see how I’m getting on. Depending on how many suggestions I get I will pick my favourite one/making a decision on Monday 6th July & I will get to work in creating it!

If you’ve got an idea I would really love to hear it! So drop me a message on my Facebook, Twitter through my blog or Courtypeach’s & Let’s get creative!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Peace & Love KC xx

PS – As I leave this as my final guest post for Courtypeach, just know I’ve had a blast & I hope you’ve enjoyed reading!

9 Things You'll Want to Know About KC

Hello wonderful people,
If you’re reading this you’re probably wondering who the heck I am?!
I blog as KayCeecreates & I’m guest blogging for Courtypeach both this evening & Friday. I’ll be the first to say I’m so thrilled to have been asked to write for her, Courtypeach is a real favourite of mine which is why I spent the last week or so racking my brain thinking what on earth I’m going to post for you guys.

I blog all my creative projects as well as my vintage & pinup style, I first thought about diving straight in with a mini project but then I figured you guys aren’t gonna know a whole lot about me considering I’m pretty much the new kid on the block when it comes to blogging.
Then I had a real lightbulb moment! I thought it’d be a great idea if I wrote a list of interesting facts about me so you could get to know KC a bit better!

With that in mind I have compiled them altogether for your entertainment tonight, short, sweet & hopefully with a sprinkle of interest.

Anyhoo, happy reading I hope you like it let this be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Ooh before I dash, If you get to end & you’d like to know more, you can find me on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram as KayCeecreates or leave your comments below!

9?! Why not 10?
Well just because really, I kinda feel like 9 is a number that gets overlooked on these sorts of lists.
  • I have 3 tattoos, yes they all have a meaning, & no I’m not one of those people who are like “your tattoos must have a meaning, or else”
  •  I blog as KayCeecreates, I like writing about everything from cooking to furniture restoration
  • I dabble (ever so lightly) in dressmaking too.

  •  I’m a lover of all things vintage, 50’s & pinup, I don’t know why, it just appeals to me.  I’m half American, my Dad was born & grew up in California (LA to be specific)
  • I’ve only been on a plane once in my life (& I’m 24 – yes I need to get out more)
  • I’m looking to start video blogging my fashion. Beauty & style really soon.
  •  I love being outside & my favourite thing is to go for a long walk on a Sunday afternoon & just explore
  •   I’m a not so secret comic book/ Marvel geek , last year I went to Comic Con & it was probably the best day ever!
  •  I’m a super clean/organisational weirdo (think Monica Gellar) my Saturday mornings I devoted totally to cleaning our house.

Bee-utiful beauty products Inc. Nip & Fab, Burt's Bees and Bee Good

Bee-utiful beauty products

I have recently been inundated with bee related beauty products, all of which are just as good as each other! it's very unusual for me to unwind and pamper myself, I find it really difficult to relax and chill out, my face is always in front of a computer screen either when I'm at work or at home.

If you read my blog on a read my blog on a regular basis you will know that I recently went to the Cosmopolitan Summer Party in London with my blogger friend, Justine. We had a such a great day and bagged ourselves some awesome freebies! One of the freebies was the Burt's bees Naturally nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion*

It doesn't have a particularly strong smell but is very nice once you've rubbed it into your skin. According to their website it's scientifically proven to keep your skin moisturised for 24 hours and not only contains milk and honey but coconut, grape seed oil and vitamin E! I have been using this after a shower but alternating it with the Nip & Fab Bee Sting Deluxe Body Souffle

This smells divine and really does the trick. It's much thicker than the Burt's bees body lotion but that's meant to be a light weight lotion anyway.

When it said 'with been venom' I just assumed it was a bit of a joke and that no bee venom was present but on the back of the bottle it states that if you're allergic, you shouldn't use this product, how crazy is that?!

The been venom is suppose to provide your skin with a plump effect, smoothing out any fine lines or wrinkles you may have. It also contains beeswax, shea butter and honey, sounds delicious!

As myself, Justine and Hannah are hosting our second bloggers event in August, we have started to apply for products for the goody bags, we have some great stuff lined up including products from Bee Good. When they sent me the goodies they also sent me a little gift too!

This is the Bee Pampered Gift Set* (£20) and contains the following:
  • Honey, Borage & Echium Intensive Hand Repair
  • Vanilla & Honey Lip Balm
  • Three Little Bee Bakery Biscuits (they're so cute)
  • Some yummy chocolates made by New Forest Chocolate
I've already fallen in love with this hand cream. For some reason I really suffer with dry hands, I don't know if it's the repercussions of being on Roaccutane or maybe I wash my hands too much, whatever the reason, it sucks! It's packed filled with natural active ingredients such as British wild flower honey, British echium oil, as well as shea and coco butters. You can use it on your hands, feet, elbows or anywhere that needs that extra bit of TLC.

I love anything with vanilla in it and this is no exception. Bee Good have won awards at the CEW Beauty Awards which is fantastic as they truly deserve it. I am currently using this lip balm and it's just as good as my Carmex that I can't live without!

These biscuits are so adorable, I didn't want to eat them (I did eventually and they were awesome!) They are made by a bakery based in Hampshire called Little Bee Bakery and if I ever venture to Hampshire, I want to pay them a visit!

These cute little chocolates were delicious too, I'm so glad I went to the gym!

I don't know whether bees are in right now but they are totally rocking the beauty world at the moment. ALL HAIL THE BEES!

Do you like to pamper yourself? What is your favourite product to use when indulging in some 'me time'?

My Exercise of the Week: Goblet Squats

So, my weight has always been an issue for me, I've never truly been happy with the way I look and I've tried so many different diets, yet nothing has really worked. To be fair, Slimming World was pretty good, it was just a very slow process for me, then I went on holiday and struggled to get back into it!

ANYWAY...

I decided to get a personal trainer to see if that technique might be more beneficial for me. Luckily I used to work at the gym I work out at, so was able to get Darren as my personal trainer ( he is awesome).

From next week I will be taking on a major 2 week fat stripping diet (God help me) which contains a lot of protein and zero carbohydrates (apart from the seventh day which is when you can go to town and eat what you want)

I only see Darren once a week but my God, does he know how to make me sweat! It's an hour long session and bloody hard, but totally worth it. For the foreseeable future I will be writing an 'exercise a week' blog post, giving you an awesome exercise to try out either at home or in the gym.

Darren recently showed me how to do goblet squats, painful but if you want a nice booty then this is the exercise for you.

GOBLET SQUATS
You will need something relatively heavy, a 5kg weight or a large bottle of water(depending on where you are/what you have to hand)

  • Hold the weight against you chest, if you have a dumbbell, hold one of the heads up vertically between your palms. If you have a weight, put your hands in-between the handles for a better grip.
  • Position your feet so you are standing just bit further than shoulder-width apart, with your toes pointed slightly outwards. If you're tall, you might need to widen your stance a bit more.
  • Once you're in position, drop down like you would a normal squat (try and go as deep as you can) and sit back and down between your knees, keeping your chest up the whole time. Make sure you're not falling forward or rounding your neck.
  • go as low as you can while keeping your feet flat on the floor. If you heels come up, your stance is still too narrow.
  • while your down in your squat, remember to keep your elbows down the inside of your legs and push your knees out.
  • shoot back up and repeat ( I do 20 reps but do as many as you feel comfortable with)

I haven't perfected it but I will, in time! It's a really good fat burning exercise and is great as part of a circuit.

Follow me on Bloglovin' and Twitter to keep up to date with my blog posts and my exercise of the week!

Berrys & Grey Birthday Wish List

It's nearly July which means it's almost my birthday, woohoo. I'm not sure if I should really be excited about my upcoming birthday, seeing as I'm going to be 27...

We're all aware that we never get any younger but why should that stop us from having any fun ey? As I feel like wish lists are still necessary for birthdays and Christmas, I have put together a birthday wish list from my new favourite shop, Berrys & Grey.

This is one of the cutest shops I have discovered in a while and had no idea it existed in Norwich. They also have a shop in Cornwall which I assume is just as nice as the one I found, so with this shop in mind, I decided to make a birthday wish list.

Feeling Upbeat Drinks Review

A few weeks ago I was asked to trial the different protein drinks by Feeling Upbeat*. I had never really heard of the company before and was really intrigued to try them out. I've always been a bit sceptical about protein drinks, always assuming they are for body builders and gym bunnies, but Upbeat drinks are not specifically targeting that demographic.

They sent me an awesome bag full of goodies, including vouchers for the drinks.

I was able to purchase the blueberry & Raspberry, Mango & Passion Fruit drinks from my local CO-OP supermarket.

The other two flavours, Strawberry and Chocolate & Orange,  I bought from Tesco.

I got used to the taste of the drinks, I thought they were quite delicious actually. My least favourite would be the mango & passion fruit drink, I don't know why as I like them as fruit!

As I love sleep too much, I sometimes skip breakfast so having something like Upbeat in the mornings on the way to work is ideal for me really. I haven't got to faff around in the kitchen making something, instead I can just drink one of these with piece of fruit.

Each drink is under 150 calories, which is great as a lot of smoothies are much higher than that and contain lots of sugar. These Upbeat drinks have 20g of protein in them as well as natural fruit and taste great. I am a huge fan of the chocolate & orange flavour, it reminds me of chocolate milk as a kid!

They are good value for money as well, at only £1.79, they aren't too pricey for what it is. The one thing that was a slight inconvenience was the lack of places that sold it. I went into a few Boots stores but they didn't sell it, the plus side to this is that on the Upbeat website it tells you where your nearest store is.

As I have started personal training sessions at the gym, I have incorporated these drinks in my nutrition plan and it seems to be going well. I plan on buying some more as they are really easy to drink and keep me going throughout the day!

If you're too busy in the mornings to grab some breakfast or feeling that afternoon slump, grab one of these drinks, they'll do you wonders!

Check out their website for more details: Feeling Upbeat

Have you ever tried Upbeat before? What's your opinion on protein drinks?

Home Life Direct: My Wish List

I discovered the Home Life Direct via Twitter and found some great items for my home. Myself and my boyfriend are moving into our new home next Sunday which we're really looking forward to! This isn't the first time we've lived together but it's still exciting and we can't wait to decorate the place with new interiors!

I have put together a little collage of some items I found on the Home Life Direct website which I would have in my 'dream home', take a look at what I think is pretty snazzy:

From top left, clockwise:

  • Emma Duck Egg Fabric Tub Chair - I really love the pattern on this tub chair, it's really pretty and would look fab in our bedroom or living room. Tub chairs are a really cool design and would love to have some in my new home.
  • Orange Faux Leather Swivel Chair - Having a bit of colour in your home is essential, so when I saw this orange swivel chair, I fell in love! I like that the chair swivels, it could even make a super comfy computer chair in our spare room.
  • Padstow Off White Small Oak Sideboard with Glazed Hutch - This is a beautiful dresser, perfect for our open living/dining area. I love the white style at the moment, it makes everything look really sleek and crisp.
  • Padstow Off White Painted Media Unit - We haven't actually got anything to put our TV on at present, so this would be ideal. Again, I really like the off white design as well as the neat little handles.
  • Padstow Off White Large Extending Oak Dining Set - Solid oak is beautiful to have in any house and this table and chairs is no exception. This would be perfect for our dining space and is great when we have friends or family come over. I really like the design and would suit our decor.
Home life Direct have got some lovely bits for your home, I will definitely check them out once we have moved in.

What's your favourite out of my wish list? What do you think about the orange chair?
